Retirement savings - Tips You Can Live With
Written by Sam Phillips on October 24, 2008 – 4:52 pm -Retirement savings can be slim right now with the cost of nearly everything going up. With the economy in a crunch who doesn’t need to save? Health care insurance, car insurance, home and fire insurance among other things.
Here are several tips that may make you smile:
Retirees are the smartest people in the world. You’ve lived long enough to know how to do so many things young folks don’t yet have a clue on. For example…
Nearly everyone has a hobby but a rare hobby could be in great demand. If you know how to produce ” old timey ” stuff you might find yourself staying busy making them. Retirement has its advantages but for those who sadly have lost their loved ones, it can be a lonely affair.
So much more the reason to search out another person local who is alone and see if they’d like to double up to make money from these outdated designs. Two heads are better than one. Also, like for men, one may have a machine or tool shop already setup. Both could share equal expenses for any project you build plus share equal profits after the overhead.
( However, two could do this, even if their mate is still living. )
What are some items that you often don’t see except perhaps at a antique shop or store? Remember the old corn grinder? I haven’t see one since I was a kid. The old hatchets we used to cut and shock the corn. I haven’t saw those for many moons. ( years )
The old model cars, crank and all, are very popular, if they can be found. Could you do something like this? Ah, the old locomotives scale models. They are high in demand, but very hard to find.
You ladies can cut in on these retirement savings too. What about the old hats? Sorry, I’m sitting here trying to think what they’re called, but it aludes me at the moment. Perhaps, one of you kind women can straighten my memory out. Anyway, laugh at me, but I think that might be a well selling hobby to make some good retirement money.
And dear ladies, what about the old churn. Something else hadn’t see for many years. If you couldn’t make one, twist the arm of your hubby until he does. You could enjoy making some very decent money and it really isn’t that hard.
Another plus is the fellowship. One thing I’ve noticed among many retirees is just plain loneliness. Women especially, seem to crave getting together and just talking. We men do too. Not as much though. My wife loves getting together with other women and chatting. It actually makes her happy and elated. I’ve always been somewhat of a “quiet” person who can be by myself or around people either one. So I’m sure it is a relief to fellowship with others.
So there’s a couple tips for retirement savings and fun get togethers. By the way, to save my life, I can’t remember what the older style hats women wore. If anyone knows, pass it to me, so I can use the right terms. My granny wore one all the time . Have fun making money and new friends too.

Employment For Seniors - End Money Worries!
Written by Sam Phillips on August 13, 2008 – 3:05 pm -Seniors are the greatest people on earth. Perhaps I’m so passionate about that belief because I’ve finally been promoted to that great status. My desire is to get employment for seniors so their financial worries can just fly away.
Recently a retiree was telling me that retirement isn’t so much fun when you have to constantly pinch pennies and make a choice between medicine, food, or staying warm in the cold seasons. I understand where he’s coming from because today, our economy is certainly not what we’d all like for it to be. Food prices are soaring. Fuel (K1) is over $5.00 a gallon, and cost of living is sky rocketing.
There’s still employment for seniors though, it just has to be found. That’s part of what I really want you to see, that you can move out of money worry situations. You don’t have to lose sleep, just take some action now. I push, if at all possible, you learning how to use a computer and get online. Just a few years ago, I didn’t know how to even turn on a computer. I thought when someone said mouse that they were referring to a real live mouse hiding inside the computer.
But one day I said to myself, ok, time to quit being afraid of learning to make money the “easier” way. Meaning, quit being set in my ways and wise up. Sometimes, we who have reached, or almost, reached retirement age seem to think we’ve learned all we need to learn. We haven’t! It is very healthy for our brain to learn new things as we get older.
There is employment for seniors just waiting to be claimed. The easiest way is to learn computer and work right from the comfort of your home. You won’t have to pay high fuel prices going to work along with wear and tear of your vehicle. You can work your hours, three in the morning or 3:00 pm in the afternoon. You can wear your pj’s or dress up. So many advantages to a home style business. If you love writing, and have just a little bit of knack for it, you can succeed and smile all the way to the bank. Online, that is.
If you absolutely want nothing to do with the internet, then there’s lots of ways to make money, as long as your health is good and you have that desire.
I have a free guide I just wrote for those of you interested in learning a way to make money that will keep your bills paid, and give you the opportunity to play with your grandchildren, travel, visit your children more, or go to walmart and shop until you drop. Just fill in your name and mail address and hit send. It’ll be sent immediately to you. ” NO STRINGS ATTACHED. “
Seasonal Jobs For Retirees – Finding The Perfect Work at Home Retirement Job!
Written by Sam Phillips on July 29, 2008 – 9:28 pm -We have two very good friends who love finding seasonal jobs for retirees because they are retired. They do things a bit differently from some, mixing pleasure and business which makes life for them very pleasant. They have a home in the North Carolina mountains where they live in the summer. He helps the Park Rangers during this time, on the clean-up crew about 6 to 8 weeks. He enjoys it too.
They also go to Florida in the cold months and work baby-sitting several hours a day, several days a week. Combined, this earned money lets them enjoy doing lots of things without really getting into their nest egg of savings which is continually growing. They really don’t have to work, but they’re being smart. For one thing, they can have lots of fun and get some healthy exercise at the same time. Work is good for us seniors!
They have children living there, so they can spend time with them as well as the grandchildren. They enjoy the pleasant weather, swimming, going to the zoo, and the alligator farms, growing flowers when it’s freezing temperatures in the mountains, meeting new and old friends - the list goes on and on. Like I said, they do things a little different, but there are many options.
You may not want to get out and do physical labor, or be tied down to a physical job where you might get dirty sometimes. There may be a need for extra money to help out in your retirement though. So here’s a wonderful suggestion, in which I take my own advice.
Why not have a home business working online on the internet? You can take your laptop computer anywhere in the world where there is an internet connection and continue to operate your business. You can work as few or as many hours as you desire. You can wear as little or as much in your private living quarters as you feel comfortable with. You don’t have to commute back and forth, sit for hours in a traffic jam, or use high dollar fuel. That is only the tip of the iceberg.
If you’re handy in building things, there is a great market for all kinds of “what knots”, plus small and larger furniture pieces. You can do this right in your own community, doing this for 12 months out of the year if that’s your dream. There are millions of people needing professional advice if you meet the criteria. Perhaps plumbing and electrical stuff is what you’re good at. Every home around you is a potential customer if you want to pocket some extra cash. I haven’t even touched the surface.
Seasonal jobs for retirees covers a huge field, so much so, that an article can only hint at the possibilities. You may have more money than you know what to do with, and you may have so much time that you’d like to fill it in with meaningful duties. The following article is for you…At any rate, I’d like to offer suggestions to help you find the best of what you’re looking for. You’re a retiree, and you deserve to live out your life to the fullest, so that happiness will follow you all the days of your life.
Best Jobs For Retirees - Finally Do What You Want!
Written by Sam Phillips on July 29, 2008 – 9:15 pm -Retirement now offers the greatest time in life because today’s society really offers the best jobs for retirees – you can finally do what you want. When you retire, you can finally do what your heart loves. Most of us have or had jobs we really didn’t like at all or even hated!
Do you know, my fellow retirees, you are in great demand? It’s true! In today’s market, regardless of what it is, employers are having a real problem keeping quality people with high characteristics such as honesty and integrity. You, who are already retired, have a proven track record, and all that needs to be done is pull up your records. When your high qualities are spelled out, then the majority of companies would much rather have you, than younger people who many times prove no loyalty.
Let me inject a quick note here, that there are young workers who have an impeccable record with the highest respect for themselves and their overseers. This is not the standard, as a whole today however.
So now that you’ve retired, drawing a check, hopefully with at least a nest egg, you can take your pick and do what you’ve perhaps always wanted to. There are companies everywhere, some of them doing just what you really desire to do. Or start your own business! You can work for many companies via online internet or, if you prefer, a brick and mortar, tangible establishment. The first thing you want to do is get organized, here’s how:
Either get a paper and pen, or if you use a computer just open up notepad and type out for number one, what you really would love to do. Second, if you want to start your own business, do research, find out your cost to get started and if there is a “demand” for your product or service. Before investing, always research. Most retirees need more money coming in than their social security checks so that’s one reason to work to start with. It might just be a hobby for a few, but not with most.
Third, find your cost to start-up and to operate with a profit margin of at least 25 to 50 percent. Those numbers may be small to many, but I recommend starting small. I know people who really thought they loved certain areas of business but after getting into it, found out it wasn’t what they wanted at all. By starting small they really didn’t lose that much.
As an example of the best jobs for retirees, even though he isn’t yet retired, my son has his own business and is gifted to be able to do literally anything he sets his mind to. There was a certain area of product and service he wanted to get into and he did it. He made some good money, but soon found dealing with people to be a real headache, so it didn’t take long for him to get out of that and into something he really does enjoy. He lost very little money by starting small with a low percentage.
So, if you are going to soon be joining the ranks of the retired, you can be sure that now is a great time to be looking for the best jobs for retirees imaginable – the sky is the limit if you know where to look.
