Retirement Health - Breeze Of Fresh Air Retirees

Written by Sam Phillips on October 24, 2008

Have retirement health now and break away from tradition. Have you ever been on your job, or just doing something, when a sudden urge to get some fresh air hit you? Taking a moment in the refreshing breeze sent gusto throughout your whole body.

” Health at all ages “

Everything may have been going fine on the job. It was just a physical feeling, desire.

Well, all may be going fine in the realm of finance. All may not be well with your physical body. What good is millions when your health is at risk? All you do is pay the doctor without getting better many times.

Are you ready to take back what has slipped away, your retirement health?  Or do you follow professional advice without question? Like a lamb led to the slaughter. You choose. I did several years ago.

I left off last post heading home in my truck, after making delivery. Doctor had gave me a shock!

When I parked my big rig in the company yard, heading to the office, I was smiling. I was going home. That was not the only reason though. I had made a decision that would inpact my health as long as I lived. More than I had ever dreamed possible.

All right! Let’s change gears here. For me, I was getting out of that unhealthy truck that was stealing my life away, forever. What will it take for you to wake up to the fact that you are what you eat, how you live, and are you a couch potato, do you spend hours, days, weeks in a drivers seat?

Retirement health makes life worth living for retirees. Whether you are loaded with money, work a job to survive, or draw a small check barely making it. You can turn things completely around if you follow certain rules. It doesn’t happen overnight. It’s not always easy. My fellow retired readers ( or semi ) there’s a better way. Ready to get started?

Retirement Is Fun When Your Health Is Thriving

Written by Sam Phillips on October 11, 2008

Retirement is fun, when everything is going good physically. If you’re a multi-millionaire and have awful health, then you can not enjoy anything. In last post I started off with an article on health. I’d like to do several more to get to a point of being able to help you. So many retirees are in bad health. And unlike salesmen, I’ll not tell you it isn’t your fault, because you’re the only one who can change things.

Last post, close to last paragraph, we stated that after having a physical exam required for truckers, which is much more strick than a regular examination, doc told me I was on the verge of being a diabetic myself. Well, that shocked me out of my boots. He told me he was going to give me 3 months to shed some weight and to change my diet.

Man cannot live on soda’s, sweets, cookies, and coconut pie without getting in trouble!

My dad, granny, and others had died a early death because of diabetes. Being an extremely independant person, right then I made a life changing decision.

I could have listened to family and friends telling me, ” it wasn’t my fault. That I had inherited diabetes in my blood line, a generation thing. ” I could have went back to the doctor, let him put me on insulin and drugs that have worse side effects than the diabetes itself. Gotten worse and worse until a early miserable death put me 6 feet under.

Not me! I’m not cut from that mold. Hope you’re not either.

Some of you are probably saying or thinking, “you’ll go into a coma if you don’t listen to the doctor and take your insulin and medicines.” Hold on to your seat, I’m not through yet.

I finished my delivery in another state, picked up my back haul and headed my truck straight for home. Retirement is fun and I’ll prove it.

Enjoy Your Retirement - Thrive On Excellent Health

Written by Sam Phillips on October 3, 2008

Enjoy your retirement. It seems to be the general consensus of the majority that seniors can hardly walk, see, or think when reaching age to retire. That is, young people barely 6.

We have 8 grandchildren. The youngest is 3 years old. She is here quite often with me during the day while her Mom works. One day she told me to watch. That she was going to stand on her head. She made a great effort at doing that. Evidently, she thought she did a pretty good job.

She came over to me, where I was sitting, and ask me if I could do that? I tried hard to keep a straight face.

I told her I had never learned to do that yet. She replied, ” papaw, when you get older, you can learn to stand on your head.” She actually was putting me on her level. Most kids though see us as very old. We’ve not taken care of our health many times by eating wrong. Getting too little exercise. Sitting for many hours behind a computer or tv. The list goes on.

Much of the senior’s bad health is brought on by habits that create sickness and disease.

Somehow it’s got to the point that we think doctors can just write out a prescription, we go to pharmacy to get it filled, then go home and take it, while we continue our bad habits. My fellow retirees, something is very wrong with that whole picture.

Back a few years ago I was a truck driver. Most truckers sit for hours eating, drinking, listening to some form of music or talk show. Maybe talking on the cb or listening to others talk. It does help pass the time as you travel millions of miles sitting. I had a truckers physical and was told I was on the point of being a diabetic.

That woke me up with loud bells going off. ( Continued shortly… )

High Demand Jobs For Retirees - Seniors wanted!

Written by Sam Phillips on September 11, 2008

There is high demand jobs for retirees. You are wanted and needed. Some tell me they are not interested in learning computer basics, not even owning one. You say you do want to keep working.  So, find something you would like to train in and would enjoy. Consider this:

It’s a fact that those retired and still working make the best employees, bar none.

Employers are starting to really notice senior citizens. Why? Because they become the most loyal, ever day on time help they can possibly find. And they obey orders! Plus take pain staking pride in doing the job right the first time.

So is it any wonder there is such high demand jobs for retirees? For example:

In yonder years gone by, truck companies wanted the lean and mean young folk only to drive their rigs. They could drive all day and then all that night, keeping 3 log books, and make lots of money. If they got sleepy just pop some pills full of caffeine and they were good to go.

But after a few months, many accidents and some deaths, and law suits on their hands, owners finally figured it out. It really took years, but for the past short span, their eyes are open to retirees. Retirement folks make the best drivers in the world. So, would you like to drive a tractor trailer?

Let me stress, either local or long haul, your choice. Sound good, then start calling locals to begin.

How about a green house? Exotic Flowers. Vegetables. Or both. Good friend of mine loves doing that after retiring. He drove a truck for many years.

Does a little produce stand beside the road turn you own? Would you enjoy that? This makes a great joint venture among a couple of seniors needing to work and making good money at the same time. You could always work for someone else doing this, to learn the ropes.

There is always high demand jobs for retirees in travel. Certain types of security, whether by water or even plane, are looking for trustworthy people just like you. More on this next post - be watching.
